Ack!

I seem to be pretty bad with keeping up with posting!
I'll try to recapitulate what I've been doing in the past week and a half.
I spent my reading week in Toronto, which was awesome. I actually got to see Brandon perform! You'd think after almost 3 years of dating I'd have seen him play tons, but I haven't, mostly because I've been in all almost the same bands he's been in since highschool (but now that's prevented by our 600km separation haha).. It was great just getting to sit back and watch though!

This was at the Rex during one of the student ensemble nights. If you're in Toronto and you're not usually busy on Tuesday (or is it usually Monday...) nights I recommend stopping by for a set sometime! They're great nights and there's a lot of talent there.

In the past couple days I've also been trying to retake some of my shop photos, mainly to get away from the plain white backgrounds.
I'm happier, I think... The lighting is kinda funky though, and I think it's because of the way the tulle reflects the light and makes it all bitty and kind of sparkly. I wish my apartment had more natural light!!

Well...I should really start practicing. I've been kinda bad about it since I finally finished my audition at UofT last week. I find it so much easier to stay focused when I have a concrete date or project to work towards, so I think I might start setting monthly goals for playing/practicing. One day...
....Why am I so easily distracted by everything!

Anyways, have a great day :)

PS Did you eat a salad today?

I have a shop! And it's not a pretend shop!

Like back when me and my brothers used to sell sculptures made out of unedible dough to each other for fake money. You can check out my new shop on Etsy here: www.eatyourgreens.etsy.com.

I'm so excited about it. I think it looks fairly appealing, and I've already sold 3 pairs of earrings (Thanks to Mark, and my Auntie Staci who is at www.laughingmommy.com)!
It's hard work to keep up with it already though, and promoting is tough, especially when there are already so many great shops.
I worked for a long time trying to make sure I was happy with everything that would be appearing in my listings before I allowed myself to actually being listing. I was very uncertain about what to do for earring cards and packaging for a while, but I eventually came up with this really cute design (I think they're cute, at least) for making earring cards at least. They're made out of old plastic portfolios that I had lying around and they have a button stitch edging on them. I'm really happy with how they're turning out!
I am also still experimenting with the general packaging after that. I don't really want to have to order a whole bag of gift boxes (it seems like we all have extras lying around anyways if we really need them) and so for now I think I'm just going to wrap the earrings with a bit of organza (or tulle? I'm not sure exactly what it is. Gauze?) and then I finish it off with a green (true to my name..) ribbon, and I think it is actually working out really attractively! Let's see if I can figure out how to add a photo...
..
.. That was pretty easy.
Well, that was my major news.. I'll try to post again soon! I would be very happy to hear comments/suggestions/constructive criticisms about my new page if you feel like leaving a message :)

Hello World of Blog!

Well, I finally am firing this baby up! I've thinking of starting a blog for a while, but I wasn't sure what exactly I would be using it for. During the past couple months I've really gotten hooked on checking out all the neato craft blogs there are, and now that I'm planning to open my own Etsy shop, and so I think I may as well finally just get started on my own blog, too! What do you think of the name? Haha, hopefully it isn't too tacky.. If you know me you'll know it represents my little veggie self well, at least, and I thought it was somewhat better than "fruit queen" (which I am embarrassed to say my boyfriend calls me). Well, I'll try to post something more exciting soon, and if you love handmade, or Etsy, or music, or vegetables, or anything, I would love for you to friend me!
